Yes, It is normal for the camera to get hot during recording, so you can try to avoid touching it.
What high temperature can it withstand?
Our cameras are equipped with supercapacitors inside and are relatively more heat-resistant.
They are able to be stored at temperatures as high as 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius) and work at temperatures as high as 149 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius).
Why is it so hot?
During recording, the camera is transferring data at high speed, so it gets hot easily, and the higher consumption it works, the easier it gets hot.
How do I stop my dash cam from overheating?
- Higher resolution, higher bitrate, and more channels working result in higher consumption, if you are concerned with overheating, you can choose the lower resolution (choose 2k instead of 4K), and lower bitrate (low bitrate instead of high/max bitrate).
- Using a recommended card is also important, click Card to get our tips about the card.
- Last but not least, it is not suggested to park the car outside without shade for too long during summer, an underground parking lot or home garage is preferable.
Will it burn my car?
The camera has dissipation holes on the camera bodies and has anti-high temperature protection mechanisms inside, so when cameras get overheated, they will stop recording, and turn off.
When it cools down, it can work again, so no concerns about any damage to your car.
